Btw: what is the core problem keeping you from going wide skillswise? I guess everybody could live with some more gfx and fx placeholders, so its gamedesign, balancing and code?

It's the design/balance/scripting work and VFX also plays a big part. Most abilities just do not work without something to represent them. Plus new abilities require additions to our core gameplay code (not all things that are interesting can be scripted yet) and Sebi is busy with other features (macro game).

How do you feel about stationary defensive classes?
(Like the Engineer from Team Fortress, or the Magus from Warhammer.)

A class that mean to drop stationary turret type things, and hold a position.

Not my favorite class type, but does it have a place in Das Tal?

One thing would be cool is dropping a turret (or demon, or whatever), and still aiming for it with your mouse, as opposed to letting it auto-target for you.

My gut feeling says yes. The trapper, for example, has been my prime armor set to get the first of similar skills. But we'll have to make sure that this leads to interesting situations (traps, choke points, positioning) and not just to boring turtling.

Here is a list of the classes that I liked in Guild Wars 1.
In addition I have chosen 1 skill that I associate with the respective class.

Hammer-Warrior

Earth Shaker: Elite Hammer Attack. Knocks down target and adjacent foes. Image

Sword-Warrior

Crippling Slash: Elite Sword Attack. Inflicts Crippled condition (5...13...15 seconds) and Bleeding condition (10...22...25 seconds).

Axe-Warrior

Eviscerate: Elite Axe Attack. If Eviscerate hits, you strike for +1...25...31 damage and inflict a Deep Wound, lowering your target's maximum Health by 20% for 5...17...20 seconds.

Mesmer

Diversion: Hex Spell. (6 seconds.) Target foe's next skill takes +10...47...56 seconds to recharge.

Paragon

"It's Just a Flesh Wound.": Elite Shout. Remove all conditions from target ally. That ally moves 25% faster (1...8...10 second[s]) if a condition was removed. Cannot self-target.

Monk

Spirit Bond: Enchantment Spell. For 8 seconds, whenever target ally takes more than 50 damage from the next 10 attacks or spells, that ally is healed for 30...78...90 Health.

Maybe there's some inpiration for you :)

Thanks! GW1 is my go-to source of inspiration once I am out of ideas for new abilities. =D
